WHO WE ARE
Give Black KC is an annual fundraiser that focuses on providing funds for high impact, Black-led organizations.
It is a data driven collective impact strategy that is community-led and community-driven.
Our model is grounded in racial equity to uplift BIPOC communities.
The Problem
We are launching the Give Black 2023 campaign to address philanthropic redlining by empowering Black-led, Black-serving organizations and increasing access to financial and developmental resources beneficial to economic mobility and educational strength. There is monumental opportunity ahead of us to close funding gaps to Black-led organizations, which are often the closest to work and in the best position to have the greatest impact.
The Solution
G.I.F.T. & BeGreat Together has partnered together this year with a goal of $250,000. The campaign will benefit 4 Black-led organizations that directly serve the Black communities in the areas of Income, Employment, Education, Mental Health, and Crime Reduction. The organizations are:
GIFT- Supporting growth and job creation for Black-owned business
BeGreat Together- Providing funding for school programs and community change makers
Front Porch Alliance- early education home visits, a catalog of year-long school-agers STEAM initiatives, adult reproductive health classes, and minor home repairs for elders to age in place.
WeCode KC- reimagines the intersection of technology and the educational system, creating revolutionary, out-of-classroom learning spaces that provide radical and transformational learning experiences.

Making a Difference
Kansas City G.I.F.T.
Our goal is to provide grants to Black-owned businesses in Kansas City, with a specific interest in businesses that operate in low income areas.
We know this will create more jobs and convert an economically disadvantaged area into an area of economic opportunity.
We aim to assist in creating generational wealth, while also reducing instances of poverty related crime and violence in our communities.
BeGreat Together
We give to support future leaders and advance education.
We award funding to K-12 public school programs that enhance the educational experience for students.
Front Porch Alliance
Front Porch Alliance works together with residents of Kansas City, Missouri’s eastside and urban core to meet their changing needs at home and in school. We do this through early education home visits, a catalog of year-long school-agers STEAM initiatives, adult reproductive health classes, and minor home repairs for elders to age in place.
WeCode KC
WeCode, is a nonprofit that reimagines the intersection of technology and the educational system, creating revolutionary, out-of-classroom learning spaces that provide radical and transformational learning experiences. By developing innovative programming focused on cultivating 21st Century skills through technology-focused project-based learning experiences, we address many of the disparities in the digital divide. Utilizing education as a vehicle for technology and activism, WeCode is driven by its desire to end inequitable systems while creating opportunities and access for youth from underserved communities.
